Much of the funding previously available through the Rural Social and Community Programme (RSCP) has been exhausted. Nationally, funds which have been provided to support parish planning through the RSCP are unlikely to be available (in most areas) in 2008 and 2009. This means that many steering groups will need to identify other revenue sources when considering the formulation of their plans.

The Rural Community Councils are testing 800 prototype toolkits with a view to improving and maintaining the practices for producing effective parish plans.
